PROFICINCY IN FAST RESCUE CRAFT

FRC, A Fast Rescue Craft (FRC), is a relatively small rescue vessel generally designed for search and rescue (SAR) duties. They are usually operated by a nations coast guard, offshore industry, or lifeboat institution, and are intended for inland and offshore environments.

SCOPE OF THE COURSE

Proficiency in Fast Rescue Craft (content in accordance with section A-V1 / 2 Table A-V1 / 2-2 STCW ’78 as amended), is intended for seafarers who are assigned to staff and / or to control a Fast Rescue Craft.

COURSE CONTENT

This Course includes :

• Take charge of a FRC during and after launch
• Particular characteristics and facilities of FRC
• Construction and outfit of FRC and individual items of their equipment
• Navigational and safety equipment available on a FRC
• How to handle a FRC in Prevailing and adverse weather and sea condition
• Knowledge of the maintenance, emergency repairs normal inflation and deflation of buoyancy compartments of inflated FRC
• Operate a FRC
• Methods of starting and operating a FRC engine and its accessories
• Particular characteristic and facilities of FRC
• Procedures for righting a capsized FRC
• Safety precaution during launch and recovery of a FRC
• Assessment of the readiness of FRC and related equipment for immediate use
• Search patterns and environmental factor affecting their execution
